Performance evidence

The candidate must demonstrate completion of supporting underground shotfiring at a blast site that safely, effectively and efficiently follows legislative requirements and workplace procedures to meet required outcomes on at least two occasions. This includes:
following preparation procedures to support shotfiring, including ventilation, barring down (scaling), and air or water services
securing and isolating blast site
identifying that drill holes are drilled to authorised design and blast plan
flushing or cleaning, and testing drill holes
following precautionary measures relevant to ground conditions, including identifying reactive ores and using explosion inhibitor as required
handling and transporting explosives
loading and stemming explosives
removing equipment and facilities not required from blast site
performing final clean-up
assisting with securing blast site.
In the course of the above work, the candidate must also:
locate and apply required documentation, policies and procedures
select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
plan for support shotfiring activities
identify and report deteriorated explosives and accessories, applying safe work practices
